L A Cinema pay tribute to the late and great Robert Redford, who died aged 89 in August and is one of Hollywood’s great cinema icons.
In tribute to Redford, L A Cinema are screening the Best Picture Oscar winner, The Sting, released in 1973 and starring Paul Newman and Robert Shaw and directed by George Roy Hill, who teamed these legends in the classic western, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Set in 1936, The Sting involves a complicated plot between two professional grifters, played by Redford and Newman. A novice con teams up with an acknowledged master to avenge the murder of a mutual friend by pulling off the ultimate big con and swindling a fortune from a big-time mobster.
Don’t miss this timeless mix of suspense, humour, style, dazzling twists and unforgettable performances, all enhanced by Scott Joblin’s superb ragtime score. The Sting won 7-Academy Awards and is a Hollywood classic. A must-see on the big screen once again!
